Increase of the accommodation leave

Today the President of Romania signed the decree on the promulgation of the Law for the modification of Article 50 paragraph (1) of Law no. 273 /2004 on adoption procedure (PL-x 775/15.12.2022) which increases the duration of the accommodation leave for parents who have adopted a child and who earn income subject to income tax, from one year, as it is currently, to two years:

“Article 50 – (1) The adopter or, optionally, any of the spouses of the adopting family, who earns income subject to income tax, according to the provisions of Law no. 227/2015 on Tax Code, as amended and supplemented, from wage-earning and similar activities or, as the case may be, from self-employed activities, royalties or agricultural activities, hereinafter referred to as the directed person, may benefit from an accommodation leave for a maximum of two years, which includes the period of custody of the child for adoption, as well as a monthly allowance.”
